Meet The Owners

Meet The OwnersSeptember 23, 2015

Greeting Friends:

We previously touched on the successful purchase and transition of Southern Homebrew. We are very appreciative of your support. As we look forward to the upcoming busy fall season, my family wanted to take a few minutes to introduce ourselves to you; our loyal and amazing customers.

Many of you have spoken with Jennifer; my lovely wife of 21 years and mother of 3 awesome children. Jennifer hails from Alliance, Nebraska. Gooo Huskers! She has enjoyed meeting many of you over the phone or directly in the store. Jennifer has done an amazing job re-entering the work force. Aside from mastering the store operations, her major objective is to put a womenís touch into the business/store. So, be on the lookout for some of the ideas she will be putting into place.

Transitioning from corporate America to business owners of Southern Homebrew has been a challenging and exciting experience. On the home front, our oldest daughter Stephanie graduated high school and closed out her 10 years of playing fast-pitch travel softball this past summer. She is starting a new phase of her life attending UNC at Greensboro as a freshman. She earned a scholarship to lead the UNCG Softball Team on the pitching mound and Outfield. Gooo Spartans! For father and daughter it was a difficult but joyful time seeing her move on.

Nicole and Blake were sad to see Stephanie leave but have enjoyed having more freedom around the house without big sister to boss them around. Nicole is a sophomore at East River High School focusing on National Honor Society, soccer and fast-pitch softball activities when she is not chauffeuring us all around with her learnerís permit. Blake started middle school this year playing football, baseball and fishes any chance he gets. If heís not fishing, heís researching fishing techniques or lures he wants to buy with the money he earns from mowing yards or helping us at Southern Homebrew.

As for me, Iím a young 51 year old Floridian who spent most of my free weekends surfing & hanging out in New Smyrna Beach while putting myself through college at UCF with a Master Degree in Computer Science. Prior to Southern Homebrew, I had been in the defense industry profession for over 23+ years managing large teams and contracts for Lockheed Martin. In 2011/2012, the 2007 financial crisis finally found its way into the Defense Sector with US Government Sequestration initiatives infusing massive budget cuts that lead to my eventual layoff. As I looked across industries, a strong desire not to move and looking for a change (okay midlife crisis thoughts) I came across Southern Homebrew. Who would have known 25 years later I would own a fun and exciting business in New Smyrna Beach where I spent so much of my childhood.

In closing, every day I give thanks for being one of the luckiest persons on this planet no matter how tough my day is going. I am blessed daily with an awesome wife and 3 fantastic, academically gifted children, a loving family and fantastic friends. Up until summer 2013 a line of work that allowed me to travel the world working on some our nations most advanced IT systems, simulation, training and supply chain/logistics systems supporting our nationís military needs.

Now itís time to focus on running Southern Homebrew and delivering quality products and service to our Customers. Joe (former owner) did an amazing job creating and building Southern Homebrew into the largest beer and wine kit reseller in the USA making it well over a 7 figure annual grossing juggernaut. For that we are very grateful.

Jennifer, myself and our staff are committed to ensuring we retain and build upon the Southern Homebrew tradition with 'Uncle Frank'. Thank you for your continued support through our transition. We will continue to improve our processes, products and services to give our customers the best shopping experience, hobby and/or business needs. Feel free to contact us with any feedback/suggestions.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and learn more about your new Southern Homebrew family for your hobby needs. Your business is greatly appreciated and my team hopeís youíll find an abundance of value from Southern Homebrew.

Thank you for shopping with Southern Homebrew. Be sure to stop in at our store when youíre visiting Florida.

Kind Regards,
Kevin, Jennifer, family & staff
